Olde English “Babydoll” Southdown Sheep

May 2023. I don’t have any of the Babydoll sheep at this time. I am eyeballs deep in finishing my DNP/AGACNP. However, I will be getting more after next May when I graduate.

These little ewes are Joy and Lexi. They are to become the foundation of my Babydoll herd. They came to the Rockin’ K Fiber Farm from the Colorado Babydoll Southdown Sheep Farm in Hotchkiss, CO in July of 2018. I am sure they were really happy to come up to 7,500′ where it is much cooler. These girls are registered with the North American Babydoll Southdown Sheep Association & Registry (NABSSAR) http://www.nabssar.org

Aside: There are three registries that support the Babydoll Southdown sheep in North America. I have no real understanding of why this is, especially when two of the three share the same address and phone number. However, my sheep are registered to the registry above, mostly because the farm where my lambs came from and my mentor who runs that farm had already had the lambs registered.

The plan is to get a ram in the Spring of 2019 to start the breeding program.

Lawson, who is also registered, is the herdsire who arrived as planned Spring 2019.

Lawson turned into one handsome Ram and with these two girls, made beautiful lambs!
